What Makes Trailparts’ Couplings Better than the Rest?

At Trailparts, we’re committed to quality in every part – and that’s what makes our products the best on the market. We focus on the details that matter – durability, ease-of-use, and safety. Take a look at the components that set Trailparts’ couplings apart from others on the market.

Wide-Grip Plunger Handle:

Trailparts couplings come with a wide-grip plunger handle, which we’ve been using since 2016. Unlike older models on the market with narrow handles that can only fit three fingers, which makes for a difficult grip, our handles are designed to be comfortable for everyone.

Master Cylinder:

Since 2014, the Trailparts’ Master Cylinder has set the standard. It has a much larger reservoir than most ¾” cylinders, which means you don’t need to top it up as often and are less likely to run dry. We use the same raw casting for both ¾” and 1” cylinders, keeping our production efficient and costs down by only having one casting process that works for both bore sizes.

The Autoback bypass valve is a popular upgrade: it’s an easy-to-fit device that saves you having to go over and manually flip over the reversing flap. The Banjo-friendly side entry port is another great feature – we received feedback from customers that cylinders with 45 degree ports plumbed with copper lines were more prone to damage, so we came up with our innovative side-entry port design that reduces risk of impact.

Folding Backframe:

How often have you hit the backframe handle when opening the rear door? Our folding backframe is a smart solution to prevent damage to your tailgate and taildoor. It’s a simple upgrade that makes a big difference to the lifespan of your trailer.

Stainless Trigger Catch:

Flimsy pressed-steel trigger catches are not up to the job. Trailparts’ couplings feature a strong, sleek cast steel trigger catch that’s engineered to endure heavy use and last longer – ready-built to meet the demands of Australian roads.

Perfect Cast Ball Socket:

We’re often asked about this – the first heavy duty coupling without an adjustor-bolt. Our take is: if you need an adjustor bolt to make the coupling secure, then the casting of the ball socket obviously has a wide tolerance, often with large hollows, cavities, or casting inclusions, meaning that the adjustor bolt is taking the lion’s share of the load.

Trailparts’ couplings are cast perfectly, so there’s equal load on all surfaces within the ball socket, which is far safer and will wear more evening than others on the market.

Quick Release Flipper Spring:

Occasionally, someone will hitch up their trailer and drive off – completely forgetting to flick the backframe parkbrake off. A few minutes of driving with the backframe parkbrake on and your brakes will be smoking while you’re staring at a $1000+ repair bill, plus the inconvenience of a trailer off the road. Our quick-release flipper spring will release the parkbrake within the first few brake activations if you forget to disengage the parkbrake, saving you time and money.

Reverse Flap:

On most models, the reverse flap is just a little tag of steel, somewhere down there in the coupling, usually covered in grease and dirt. We’ve made the reverse flap on our couplings much easier to handle with a tab on top – making it simpler to flip without having to get too involved.

In short, Trailparts’ couplings are designed with the user in mind, from more comfortable plunger handles to the practical reverse flap, we’ve engineered every detail to make your job easier.
